What is it?
A lively and informative programme designed to teach press officers and others who write news or press releases the skills and practice needed to produce copy that journalists will publish.

Who should attend?
Press officers from a non-media background and anyone else who has to supply stories to the media.

Previous experience required?
None.

Benefits to the organisation?
Better relations with and coverage in the media, leading to a better public profile for the organisation.

Benefits to the individual?
Better writing skills and understanding of the media, the ability to identify a story and present it to the media in a way which they will find acceptable.

What ground is covered?
After several fun and informative exercises on story-spotting and writing skills, participants write and review a series of news releases on their own and given topics.

Pre-course work?
None, though it is helpful to arrive at the course with several news release story ideas.

Dress code?
Casual.
